Opportunities for Personal Achievement

At Dalmeny we strive to give our pupils opprtunities for personal achievement in a variety of contexts.  These will be in the classroom and beyond.  Our aim is for these achievements to give the children a sense of satisfaction and to build motivation, resilience and confidence.  These opportunities include, but are not limited to:

  • Residential Camp (P6 and P7 pupils)
  • Forest School
  • Violin lessons (P5-P7 pupils)
  • School shows e.g. P1-4 Nativity and P5-7 musical
  • Junior Award Scheme Scotland (JASS)
  • Class Assemblies
  • Target Setting and Personal Learning Planning
  • Homework Projects
  • Swimming Lessons
  • Reading Challenge
  • Burns Poetry Competition
  • Upper School Choir
  • After School Clubs e.g. Chanter Club


We reward our pupils in a variety of ways, these include but are not limited to:

  • Rewards / certs for achievement
  • Head Teacher /breakfast
  • Thumbs Up Award
  • Personal Achievement Award Board
  • House Points


Pupils and parents are encouraged to complete Wider Achievement Slips and bring them into school so that their achievements can be celebrated at Assembly.
